A Peculiar Place to be: A Murderer's Room Game Review

Hey there folks! It's me again, writing back after my 2nd semester is over! You know what that means! More games and more time for me to play and write reviews about them. Hopefully, I will not need to repeat any of the subjects so I can enjoy this break peacefully. So here, I'm bringing you all yet another game review!

The Murderer's Room is a game developed by 지구별대모험 (which means Earth-specific adventure) and was released in the Play Store back in September 2019. The game weights around 100MB, making it somewhat compatible with many mobile devices. This game is another pixel adventure (but not a platformer game) and point and click with a 3rd perspective to it. This is one of the unique games I played this year (at least up to this point), so with out further ado let's see why I thought so!

The Story

At the start, we'll be playing as a girl who finds herself in an old room. She has no recollections about the place and how she ended up there so from that point, we'll start looking and checking around the room to finds some clues. As we look for them, we soon find out the girl's name which I believe to be Helen. We also learn more about the room we are in, as it appears that it used to host children (it may be a foster house). But it doesn't end there, we soon finds out how the place was also used to host experiments on those poor children. From this point on, our objective was somewhat clearer, that we have to leave this house before the same fate those children suffered fall upon her.

The Gameplay

The game may look like those of the RPG horror games, but its not. Its developed with the Unity engine. For the controls, we can use the joystick to move the character around the room and tapping on objects to interact with them. When we are using certain items on another, we don't have to drag them from the inventory as its done automatically when you have the required item. The visuals are nice, again I just love pixel arts to begin with haha. The same goes for the theme, it only has one theme but I find it fitting to the game overall. The puzzles in the game are fine, they are not that hard but the control is what I believe to make it a bit harder.

As I said before, this is one game that stood out from the rest of the games I played to this point this year. To begin with, this game has some bugs, there is the visual bug where certain items in the game would turn white, making you unable to see it let alone interact with it effectively and there is the gameplay bug, where after solving certain puzzles, it would reset again and you are unable to interact with other items. Truth be told, I'm not even sure if I really did finish the game, as when I finished what I believe to be the last puzzle, a brief cutscene played and then the game just closed itself. When I opened it again, instead of starting with my last puzzle/progress, the game just restarted the entire thing (making me start from the beginning). So from that, I figured that I really did finish the game. The game is also really obscure, I can't fine any guide nor gameplay on the internet about this game. So if you happen to stuck in one of the puzzles, your best chance is just to keep at it.

One last thing that hinders the gameplay is the default language it uses. The game has Korean language as its default language, its used to describe the game and its title in the Play Store. To me, this is what makes the game so obscure to many audiences. Well, the game actually has an English option in the game which makes me think why they don't use it as the default setting to advertise the game. Unfortunately, the game's English translation is quite rough at certain parts, making it hard to understand the narration. So yeah, those are the reasons why I found the game unique.

Overall Thought

Despite the downs and unused potentials the game possess, I still find the game nice. The premise, visuals, and art is really good but they have a lot of homework to finish with the translation and in fixing the bugs. I really hope they would update the game again, because man! This game has the potential to gain more audiences, I even emailed the developer to tell him some pieces of my mind. For now, I would give the game a 6.8 out of 10 due to its bugs and such but not that I hate it. So for you guys, you can pay a visit to the Play Store and play the game yourself. As for the developers, hopefully you guys would update and fix those issues the game has because I'm looking forward to seeing more games from you guys! That's all for now folks.

Re-coloring the grey spaces: A "Lilac and Her Light" Game Review

Howdy folks! How is it all going? Hopefully good. So I recently managed to set aside some time to complete a game (as if I never have time for it XD), and write a review of it. This time, its going to be a brief review of a game I finished in less than an hour. This is a review of Lilac and Her Light! Lilac and Her Light is a game developed by Npckc and was released back in October 2018. Its a story based pixelated game(one of my favorite types!) or you can say that its an RPG/Role playing games. You can download it through the Play Store or the developer's website (I'll drop the link below later). The game is pretty small, only around 16 Mb, meaning its practically accessible with phones nowadays.  The Story At the start, we will find ourselves playing as a girl, named Lilac, who lives in an extraordinary grey house, in which every house hold items and Lilac herself are also grey. We soon learn that she has an odd condition where everything that made contact with her would los

Working on a Terrific Masterpiece! A Death Palette Game Review

Howdy, folks! It's me again, the author of this lonely blog. these past weeks have been filled with semester breaks, something that I truly enjoy after all the hustle in the 2nd semester. In that break, I have played many games, some of which I'll review and bring here. Now, let's get into one of them, the menu for today will be a review of Death Palette. Enjoy! Death Palette is a puzzle & story based game with horror elements to it. The game was developed by Sleeping museum, an indie developer based in Japan, and was made available in google Play Store in February 2020. The game has been around for some time but it was only starting to get attention after its latest update, one that brought an English translation to it. Hence, allowing more people to experience the game. The game weighs around 50 MB, quite light in my opinion. With its introduction out of the way, let's dive into its parts! The Story The game tells a story of a beginner painter, who was given an un

In Search of a Bird's Family: A Grayland Game Review

Hello and back again with me. Yes, it hasn't been long after my last post and if you're thinking why, the answer is quite simple. As for now, I'm trying to improve my writing, both in terms of quality and as a habit, and I figured that this activity may be a suitable means of doing it(and hey! Another legit reason to play games!). Alright enough with the background, and let's get into this game! Its a game review of none other than Grayland. Grayland is a 2D adventure game developed and published by 1DER Entertainment back in December 2019. This unity powered game is available to play on both pc and mobile experience. This game doesn't take up much space as it only weighs around 50 MB.  Story The game begins with a cutscene showing some hunters who just caught a bird nest, complete with the eggs and the bird. After they left, we will see another bird, previously shot down by the hunters, getting back up and in pursue of its family. Along the way, we will see how mes
