Hello and back again with me. Yes, it hasn't been long after my last post and if you're thinking why, the answer is quite simple. As for now, I'm trying to improve my writing, both in terms of quality and as a habit, and I figured that this activity may be a suitable means of doing it(and hey! Another legit reason to play games!). Alright enough with the background, and let's get into this game! Its a game review of none other than Grayland.
Grayland is a 2D adventure game developed and published by 1DER Entertainment back in December 2019. This unity powered game is available to play on both pc and mobile experience. This game doesn't take up much space as it only weighs around 50 MB.
Story
The game begins with a cutscene showing some hunters who just caught a bird nest, complete with the eggs and the bird. After they left, we will see another bird, previously shot down by the hunters, getting back up and in pursue of its family. Along the way, we will see how messed up the world is, as an alien invasion is on the go and war is raging. We, as the bird, will begin our journey through all this mess to find its family and eventually uncovering the bigger role we would play later in the story.
Gameplay
The gameplay surrounding this game is primarily based on the mobile joystick, of which you will use to move around the level. You can readjust things regarding the control in the setting, which I found helpful. The game uses one of those vector style for its visual and I like it, it kinda reminds me of Shadow Fight or Vector itself from Nekki. To unlock the next level, you are required to watch an advertisement, or you can just pay for an Ad-free version of it. The theme/soundtrack of the game is fine, although it will get monotonous as its going to be played for the entire game. In every level, there will be many obstacles and boy, at lease based on my experience, some of them are just too sensitive. Even one very small mistake could bring you back to the checkpoint. I've lost count of how many times the bird got sniped and boy, it sure got frustrating for me. So a little tips for you all, don't play the game in a bad mood, I don't any of you to be left with a gadget casualty. Oh another thing is this game would make your phone buzz/vibrate as if there's no tomorrow, its a respond when the bird is getting near a threat (nuclear waste). But thankfully, this can also be fixed in the settings.
Overall Thought
This game took me almost a week to finish, although some of its levels are frustrating, I ended up taking that time due to my daily busyness. The game really tested my patience, gotta admit that, and I think it was what made the game somewhat unbearable at times to me. Aside from its down, I have to admit that the story it offers and how tense/enjoyable some of its levels are enough to convince me to recommend this game to you. I give this game an 7.8 out of 10. But again, this is merely my judgement, for a better view of it you can just go to the Play Store or Steam to see the game through to the end and form your own thought about it.
Alright, that's all there is for now and thanks for reading and stopping by! See you on my next post!
