Game Review! The Town of Tides

Hey there! It's been a while and I have just the right alibi! The past three months have been very intense. Not a week was passed without a wave of tryouts or exams, considering it's my final year of high school. Another thing is that my schedule is so tight and filled, I just didn't have the time for my hobby, as for the most part, I resorted to games to reduce my stress instead of more productive yet refreshing activities. Not only that but the recent virus breakout, the notorious COVID-19 had made his way to Indonesia, which (un)fortunately gave the whole school a temporary quarantine for over 2 weeks! Hence, now I have the time to write something here.

Enough with the background, now let's get into the business. So here, I'm bringing you another review of a game I recently finished. It's another good old pixelated RPG game, the name is "The Town of Tides". The game was developed by Odencat and was released in the mid of 2018. Just like any other game I reviewed here, this game has an immersing plot and other aspects that make it worthy to review, so let's get in it!

So the game begins with a man, who had left the so-called "modern world" to this village located near a beach. Like most people, he had grown tired of how the rat-race went on and how pointless it was to live his old life. Hence, he isolated himself in the village, surrounded by books and a few neighbors to fill his new life. As time went by, he started to develop a new power/sense as now he is capable of seeing ghost/apparations. He can make contact with them, but he initially chose to leave it alone, as he considered it as none of his business. The main character also holds an interesting philosophy, if I recall correctly it's called the trees of heart. Basically, in his mind, there is a patch of land where trees (a symbol of the heart) of himself and other people he knows to grow. At first, all of the trees there had withered, meaning all the people he knows, including himself, haven't made peace with themselves due to certain problems.

This is where the journey begins! As the man who was initially quite selfish, starting to change for the better. He will help each people to make peace, and we can see how later on that their trees would eventually grow again, there will be many problems and many setbacks he faces, he will also lose someone and get someone as a friend in return, but he will insist on keep going, despite of countless doubts he has within him. So to simplify it, he will be trying to fix/heal everyone's trees of heart. It takes us to many occasions to understand the struggles of each person in the village, from losing a daughter to spending a whole life isolated and alone from others, at some point, it gets a bit... heartwrenching.

Aside from the plot, the game also has so many good soundtracks/themes which blend nicely to the game, or specifically certain scenes, giving more depths and emotions to them. So before you play, grab a set of earphone/headset to maximize your experience!

The game's artwork/visual is fine for a pixel game. But then again this type of game puts most of its strength on the storyline and boy they sure did a good job! I know for one thing that I can't do enough justice for this game so I suggest you open the play store and install this game, feel for yourself and let the immersing plot of the game bring you the town of tides! Overall I would give this game an 8.8/10 Such a shame they can't make it longer but for the quality's sake, I can tolerate/understand that.

Samsara Room Game Review! Another Fine Puzzle!

So I'm back again with another post, sorry for the long break! I had been running into some troubles lately and it took me quite some time to get back into blogging. Today I'm bringing you another game review, the title is Samsara Room! Samsara Room is a game developed by the Rusty Lake, the same company that developed the Rusty Lake and The cube Escape game series! The game was recently released to the wild a few weeks ago, specifically April 29th, 2020, which is a remake of its previous version. This game was released to celebrate Rusty Lake's fifth anniversary! (Way to go guys!!!) With that settled, now let's move on to the game! Storyline So from what I read, the game is set after Rusty Lake: Roots and it follows up the event of William's rebirth. Truth be told, I don't fully understand the full story of the Rusty Lake series, as I haven't played them all. Unlike the Cube Escape series which I have played in sequence. The first thing you notice in...

Re-coloring the grey spaces: A "Lilac and Her Light" Game Review

Howdy folks! How is it all going? Hopefully good. So I recently managed to set aside some time to complete a game (as if I never have time for it XD), and write a review of it. This time, its going to be a brief review of a game I finished in less than an hour. This is a review of Lilac and Her Light! Lilac and Her Light is a game developed by Npckc and was released back in October 2018. Its a story based pixelated game(one of my favorite types!) or you can say that its an RPG/Role playing games. You can download it through the Play Store or the developer's website (I'll drop the link below later). The game is pretty small, only around 16 Mb, meaning its practically accessible with phones nowadays.  The Story At the start, we will find ourselves playing as a girl, named Lilac, who lives in an extraordinary grey house, in which every house hold items and Lilac herself are also grey. We soon learn that she has an odd condition where everything that made contact with her would los...

Working on a Terrific Masterpiece! A Death Palette Game Review

Howdy, folks! It's me again, the author of this lonely blog. these past weeks have been filled with semester breaks, something that I truly enjoy after all the hustle in the 2nd semester. In that break, I have played many games, some of which I'll review and bring here. Now, let's get into one of them, the menu for today will be a review of Death Palette. Enjoy! Death Palette is a puzzle & story based game with horror elements to it. The game was developed by Sleeping museum, an indie developer based in Japan, and was made available in google Play Store in February 2020. The game has been around for some time but it was only starting to get attention after its latest update, one that brought an English translation to it. Hence, allowing more people to experience the game. The game weighs around 50 MB, quite light in my opinion. With its introduction out of the way, let's dive into its parts! The Story The game tells a story of a beginner painter, who was given an un...
