Surviving the Night Against a Possessed Doll: a Mr. Hopp's Playhouse Game Review

Howdy! It's me, the sole writer of this blog! I'm back again to start off the month with yet another game review in this blog.

Mr. Hopp's Playhouse is a horror game developed and published by Moonbit Studios back in November 2019 (for pc), while the mobile counterpart was back in December 2020. The game is available to play in mobile and PC, I got mine from the Play Store while for the PC, it's available on Steam. The game weighs around 19MB (Later it would get bigger but still below 50-75MB), making it small and playable on many phones. As another indie horror game, this game really stood out among those I've played before. So let's get to why I got to that conclusion.

The Story

The game begins with Ruby, a girl who recently got her hands on a rabbit doll that was given by her now deceased grandmother. Unlike other dolls, this particular one gives her the creeps up to the point she would claim that it's dangerous and is best kept away from her. Hearing this, her parents just don't believe it and tell her that she should take good care of Mr. Hopp (the doll's name) as it's the last gift/keepsake of her grandmother. But all would change in one unfortunate night, where Mr. Hopp shows its true form. That night, Ruby will have to keep herself alive against the lingering danger of that doll and uncover the secrets about it.

The Gameplay

The control of this game involves the use of joystick, to move Ruby around the house, and other buttons, as in to interact with other items. While playing the game, it gave me the same feeling I had when I played FNAF (Five Nights at Freddy's), as in the game we'll be always on the lookout for Mr. Hopp to avoid the jumpscare. To me, the game owes its horror and intense atmosphere to its visual (how gloomy and dark the house is at night) and the music. The game is best to be played with a headphone or any ways to help you listen to the surrounding as its the best way to detect Mr. Hopps (it has its own music when its about to show up) and to experience the game overall. The game also has multiple endings, two of which I've already got. Throughout my gameplay, I didn't encounter any bug so that's a plus!

Overall Thought

In the end, I find the game very enjoyable. It sure is good to feel some good old jump scare after all those visual novel, adventure, and RPG horror games. The atmosphere while playing it darn good, so palpable especially when you use your headphone. I sometimes struggled with the control, as sometimes I pressed the wrong one knowing how intense the game is, but that's on me. All in all, I would give this game an 8.7 out of 10. Well done Moonbit studios! Can't wait to play your next games! Oh, and speaking of next games, the game already has its sequel released recently, so be sure to download both of them to see the game yourself! Until next time, folks!

Giving company on a long lonely trip! A Terasene-Girl X Sun Game Review

Girl X Sun-Terasene is another developed by the Sleeping Museum, the maker of the Death Palette game. The game is developed with Unity engine and is available to play in mobile through google play store. The games was released back in May 2018, but it has earned more attention recently following another update that translated the game in English, somewhat the same case with Death Palette. The game has been downloaded for over 50.000 times and it weighs around 30 MB, so its indeed a light game for your device. The game can be considered as one of the story based adventure/single player platformer (?) game, although its not that kind of hard/more common action.  The Story It started off with a girl who is taking a walk at night away from a huge castle. What makes it unique is that the girl is carrying an umbrella. We are then told of her condition, that she can't make contact with sunlight as it may harm her, hence the umbrella. But why is she taking an umbrella at night? It's be...

Re-coloring the grey spaces: A "Lilac and Her Light" Game Review

Howdy folks! How is it all going? Hopefully good. So I recently managed to set aside some time to complete a game (as if I never have time for it XD), and write a review of it. This time, its going to be a brief review of a game I finished in less than an hour. This is a review of Lilac and Her Light! Lilac and Her Light is a game developed by Npckc and was released back in October 2018. Its a story based pixelated game(one of my favorite types!) or you can say that its an RPG/Role playing games. You can download it through the Play Store or the developer's website (I'll drop the link below later). The game is pretty small, only around 16 Mb, meaning its practically accessible with phones nowadays.  The Story At the start, we will find ourselves playing as a girl, named Lilac, who lives in an extraordinary grey house, in which every house hold items and Lilac herself are also grey. We soon learn that she has an odd condition where everything that made contact with her would los...

Making Our Way Out of a Dream: A Nora's Dream Game Review

Hola todos! I'm back again here in this blog with yet another game review, something I'll be bringing most of the time here. Now that I'm in a semester break, do be ready for more reviews from me, haha. Without further yapping, let's get down to it!      Nora's Dream is a game developed by Štěpán Brychta and was published in back in October 2019 (at least in Mobile). The game can be considered as one of the point & click adventure type that can be downloaded in the Play Store. The game weights around 80MB and has a rather brief gameplay, which in total is around less than an hour. But within that short period I was able to experience for myself a truly fine and delicate adventure in the game. To find out what lies inside this piece of fantasy, let's get down to it! The Story      At the start of the game, we will play as a Nora, a young girl who finds herself in this fantasy realm with no recollection of how and why she is there. Upon further explo...
